Mark Selected for Super Lawyers 5 Years in a Row..
My peers again selected me as a Super Lawyer for 2025. This marks the fifth year in a row I have earned that designation. But what matters more is that my clients sleep better at night knowing that they have one of the best lawyers around on their side. I am available to serve as co-counsel or as a consultant in cases where my skills and experience are likely to be helpful.
I’m Mark Cohen, and in 42 years of practicing law, I’ve seen too many good people get crushed because they did not consult a lawyer, waited too long to consult a lawyer, or hired the wrong lawyer. I am an AV-rated attorney and earned the Super Lawyer designation in 2021-2025.
My AVVO rating is a perfect 10. Expertise.com consistently lists me as one of the best real estate lawyers in Denver. But credentials (read my full biography) don’t win cases – experience and relentless preparation do. Hence my motto — Start Early. Work Hard. Finish.®
proven TRIAL LAWYER

I am a proven TRIAL LAWYER.
I have conducted more than one hundred jury trials and litigated many more civil cases.
In 2012, I won a $4.2 million judgment (including punitive damages) for a client in a case involving breach of contract and interference with contract. I focus my litigation practice on contract law, business litigation and real estate law and litigation.
Real Estate Law and Litigation
I lived in the Colorado mountains for 21 years, and I know exactly how these property wars work. As a Colorado easement lawyer, I’ve handled every type of access dispute you can imagine – and won many of them. I also represent clients in boundary disputes, quiet title actions, partition actions, and non-disclosure cases. I also assist clients with residential and commercial real estate transactions, including For Sale By Owner (FSBO) transactions, because preventing problems is cheaper than fixing them later.
I have represented clients in such cases in Gilpin County, Boulder County, Clear Creek County, Summit County, Grand County, Eagle County, Garfield County, Jefferson County, Larimer County, Chaffee County, Routt County, Mesa County, Logan County, Weld County, Arapahoe County, Denver County, Adams County, Morgan County, and Montezuma County.
With an advanced degree in agricultural law (LL.M.), I have also protected agricultural clients in numerous real estate transactions and disputes involving properties on Colorado’s eastern plains. As a Colorado farm lawyer, I understand that your land isn’t just property – it’s your livelihood.
Contract Law and Business Litigation
Here’s the truth nobody tells you: Business, contract, intellectual property, employment, and real estate litigation usually happen because someone drafted a bad document — a document that was ambiguous or incomplete.
As a Denver business litigator, I clean up these messes every day. I prefer plain English over “Legalese.” Plain English lowers costs, improves productivity, increases credibility, and reduces misunderstandings. I am the column editor for the Contract Law Column in the Colorado Lawyer, because other attorneys ask ME for advice on contract law issues.

STOP WAITING
Every day you wait gives the other side more time to build their case against you. Don’t hand them that advantage.
